  • Faulty DFS Sofa - Consumer Rights

So we bought a sofa from DFS in July 2014. It cost around £3k but they didn't have any in stock, had a display model which they said we could have for £1100 and could get it in a matter of days as opposed to months (usual waiting time).

We looked at the display model and it was fine. No marks etc and they said it'd be treated etc before coming to us a few days later. So we bought it in one go, via debit card.

Now, 2yrs on, the sofa feels like the springs are going on one side of the two seater sofa. I'm away to fire them an email and knowing how much of an arse DFS are when it comes to facing problems (it's no secret really) I'm going to diarise events here for others to follow.

    This could be fun.

Yes same rights - it's classed as new.

Only exception would be if for example there was a stain on it that had been drawn to your attention before you purchased it

Thanks Jo. There was nothing wrong with it. Literally on the invoice it reads "Ex Display" - they circled that and I initialled it (can't remember why but clearly it's because it was, ex display)!
